Process heat

The parabolic trough that covers the intermediate temperature range is particularly suited to be used for the generation of industrial process heat. For example, it can be utilized to sustain processes in the food or textile industries.

In many sectors of the industry, high temperatures are necessary for the production and manufacturing of goods and services. Due to the permanent increase in the prices of fossil fuels, a drastic increase in production costs is expected in all areas. Two thirds of the total energy required for process heat by the industry are ultimately needed for temperatures between 0 - 400 °C, and must be provided at great efforts and expense.

These temperatures can be generated on demand by means of a parabolic trough, which focuses the sunlight onto an absorber pipe with liquid flowing through it. This can allow enormous amounts of fossil energy and financial resources to be conserved.

Depending upon the process, the parabolic trough can replace the conventional heating entirely or be connected upstream as a support.

Application examples:
  • Drying and dehumidification
  • Preheating of raw or input materials
  • Concentration processes
  • Pasteurisation and sterilisation
  • Washing and cleaning in the textile industry
  • Food industry
  • Chemical reactions
  • Heating of production halls
  • Provision of hot water or steam
  • Etc.
